Autism & Learning Disability Care
Understanding Autism and Learning Disabilities
At AQT, we recognise that every person is unique, which is why our care is always tailored to the individual. We also understand that many people may have additional learning disabilities, which can affect areas such as education, communication, or life skills.
Our role is to provide the right level of support, whether that’s long-term specialist care or gentle encouragement in daily life. This way each person has the opportunity to thrive in a way that works for them.
What matters most to us is making sure that, with the right support in place, every person we care for can live a safe, fulfilling, and meaningful life on their own terms.
Communication Matters
Some people may be non-verbal or selectively mute, but that doesn’t mean they can’t communicate. Our team are trained to use a variety of communication methods – whether that’s sign language, assistive technology, visual supports, or simply taking the time to listen and understand what works best for the individual.
Support at Home
We provide specialist support in your own home for adults living with autism or a learning disability. That support could mean:
Independence and confidence
Helping someone enjoy their favourite hobbies and routines, and encouraging them to take part in community life.
Personal development
Building communication and social skills, and offering support with education or work.
Health and wellbeing
Encouraging healthy eating, exercise, and self-care routines, while being on hand to manage more complex medical needs if required.
Our support is flexible – it might be a few hours a week, regular day-time visits, or live-in care where a carer is available round the clock.
01
Respite care
Giving you the chance to take a break while knowing your loved one is being fully supported.
02

Providing peace of mind that someone is there throughout the night.
03
Companionship
Our carers often become trusted friends, offering reassurance and positivity alongside practical support.

Our support is flexible – it might be a few hours a week, regular day-time visits, or live-in care where a carer is available round the clock.
A Helping Hand for Families
Caring for a loved one with a learning disability can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially as children grow into adulthood and new challenges appear. We’re here to support you too.

Our Approach
We don’t believe in “one size fits all.” Every individual we support has a personalised plan, created together with them, their family, and professionals involved in their care. Whether that’s input from speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, or specialist consultants, we make sure support is has synergy and is truly personal.
